BACKGROUND
Founded Camp Cucumber in 1990 after hosting a very successful Christmas dinner in partnership with the Red Cross, for single-mom families from the Jane/Finch Community.

- Recipient of the Flare Award for Leadership and Community, 2009
- Member of the Rotary Club of Toronto, 2000-06
- Youth Employment Service (YES) Board Member, 2001-06
- Director, The Don McQuaig Foundation supporting awareness and screening for colon cancer

“It is impossible to describe the pure joy that we experience at camp with our families. They tumble off the bus as strangers, tired and stressed from city life. Throughout the week they learn to laugh, sing and dance together, forging friendships that will last long after they board the bus again, hugging and promising to stay in touch. I am very grateful for every year. It has been a privilege to spend time with these remarkable families. They have given me a lifetime of magical moments that I cherish every day.”
